The Rotary Club of the Capital City manages a 501(c)(3) charitable organization named the Rotary Club of the Capital City Foundation. Our foundation was established in 1985. The principle activity of our club's foundation is the awarding of annual Styres Scholarships to Wake County North Carolina public high school graduates.
This Scholarship is named in honor of late club member Robert N. Styres. Bob was a beloved and devoted Rotarian who worked tirelessly on whatever was to be done. One of Bob’s most memorable contributions to the club was through his work as editor of the club’s weekly bulletin for which he created original cartoons that were very much enjoyed by club members. Recipients of the Styres Scholarship are selected based on financial need and demonstrated perseverance in overcoming challenges to complete their secondary education.
